The new HIGHWAY 99 TUnnel brought to us by bertha, the world's most exciting boring machine.2/3/2019
In anticipation of the new State Route 99 tunnel opening soon, the lab joined ~100,000 other Seattleites this weekend to adventure through the two mile long tunnel. The tunnel runs from the South Lake Union neighborhood (home to one of our lab sites) to the area south of downtown. Bertha dug the tunnel over a several year period. The tunnel road operates as a double-decker arrangement and contains all sorts of technological safety advances. Here's to hoping that the traffic in SLU improves!
