The Murphy Lab is interested in hearing from prospective students, post-docs, and employees. We are committed to fostering an inclusive, diverse team focused on improving global health.
PROSPECTIVE POST-DOCS AND EMPLOYEES: When we have formal positions open in the lab, information will be posted on our blog and will be available at UWHires (click link). When we do not have positions open, we are still interested in hearing from talented, enthusiastic prospective candidates. Sometimes a new project is right around the corner! We can also work with prospective post-docs who are interested in writing a fellowship support proposal to fund post-doctoral research projects.
PROSPECTIVE GRADUATE STUDENTS: The Murphy Laboratory accepts selected graduate students for thesis research projects in the lab. Joining the lab depends on a variety of factors including but not limited to candidate qualifications, candidate performance during research rotations, availability of funding, research interests, and demands from other laboratory projects and activities. Dr. Murphy is affiliated with graduate training programs in Microbiology (PhD program link), Pathobiology (PhD program link), and Laboratory Medicine and Pathology (Masters and PhD program link). If you are interested in our research and are part of one of these programs or are considering applying to one of these programs, we would be happy to hear from you and to discuss your qualifications and our research outlook.
PROSPECTIVE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS: Undergraduate research opportunities and/or undergraduate employment opportunities are sometimes available in the laboratory as well for enthusiastic, committed students.
COMMITMENT TO DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION: Our Laboratory, the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, the University of Washington, and our affiliates and partners are committed to improving diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice on our campus and beyond. Our intention is to create a research community that encourages participation and connection and that values each individual's unique contributions regardless of socioeconomic status, race, culture, ethnicity, language, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, spiritual practice, geography, mental and physical status or age. Additional information about the Department's efforts to promote Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion are available online as well.
